On Friday this week, Reception children will start individual reading with Kru Paan and Kru Mangpor. This is a crucial activity in teaching key skills and positive reading behaviour. The books that children read at school will come home on a Friday and you will have the opportunity to read them with your child.
This activity runs side-by-side with Guided Reading which children do in groups with myself and Doug. At this age, children are ready to learn key skills so we place great emphasis on this in our teaching.
Home-reading is vital in encouraging key skills. It is also hugely important in creating a positive relationship with reading material, something that children can lose as they grow up.
