Term 3- week 5: May 15th-19th 2017

     We had an exciting science week this term! Students enjoyed had Blobs in a bottle and rain in a cup experiments during the week then many more exciting experiments on Friday



Experiment 1- Students learnt about density and the three stares of matter, solids, liquids and gas in this fun experiment with oil and water.





























Experiment 2- Students learnt about gravity, air pressure and splatter in this fun experiment with paint balloons.

English
This week we worked on how to review your work effectively. We also completed our mid term big write assessments. Once again the students gave their best efforts and produced some notable work.
  • We will begin our next unit on Poems and we will investigate some silly poems, which I am sure the students will love.
Maths
This week we recapped measuring length in cm using rulers and made estimates of how many cm objects were. We then focussed on time and reading analogue clocks to the nearest 5 minutes.
  • Partition to add two 2-digit numbers; find the difference between two 2-digit numbers;
  • multiply two numbers using counting in steps of 2, 3, 5 and 10;
  • solve division problems by counting in steps of 2, 3, 5 and 10
Inquiry
This week we celebrated science week, with our science fair on Friday. During the week the students had some in depth investigations to explore that included measuring paint splatter dropped from various heights. The students had to prepare beforehand and think about what they were testing and make conclusions at the end of the experiment.
