Term 3- week 7: May 29th- June 2nd 2017

Everyone has been working very hard this week with lots of review activities and mini-quizzes.  More to come next week as the year draws to a close.

--Three more winners for Dojo certificates!  Congratulations!--

What comes out when it rains? Snails.
This was the week of the snails for Y2R!
Our classroom became a little snail zoo totaling six snails today. The students have had a very exciting time taking care of their snails feeding them leaves and getting them water. We have set them free for the weekend since nobody will be here to take care of them. (and they might be missing their families too)

This week we looked at silly poems. We looked at a poem about about classes leaving assembly, for example Mr Frog’s class hopped out! The students looked closely at how this poem worked and their big write assessment was to create their very own version.
·         Continuing our work on silly poems
Math
This week we recapped number bonds to 10 and how this could help solve addition and subtraction to 100. We also extended our understanding of place value to recognise 3 digit numbers and identify the hundreds, tens and units.
·         Maths assessment
Inquiry
This week we continued with our inquiry into communities and how they create systems to meet the needs of people. We looked closely at schools and hospitals and tried to determine how they serve the needs of people.
·         Next week we will be looking closely at how cities operate and meet the needs of their inhabitants.
