Outdoor Learning has Started!!

We have now begun to introduce Outdoor Learning in EY. Outdoor Learning is exactly what is says: Learning Outdoors! The outdoor environment almost becomes a second classroom, where children learn skills and knowledge through carefully set-up activities such as water play, big writing, and investigation.
Over time you will see a number of different activities introduced in the playground. We will introduce things gradually so that children get used to each activity before exploring new ones.

Here are some snaps from our Outdoor Learning experiences this week.

The water trays were a huge success this week and provided hugely valuable learning experiences to the children.

Khao and Pueng work together tipping and filling. They are sisters, so they are used to working cooperatively!
The girls drew a The Three Bear's House and then role-played the Goldilocks story. This is a hugely important communication and creative skill which supports so many aspects of language development.

Aksel spent a long time interacting with the water and really enjoyed the process of tipping and pouring.

Mew and Jun work together to fill bottles with water. This helps them to develop skills in communication and cooperation.

Alice is busy writing on the window using a board pen. This will help Alice practice important writing skills.

Aussie learns about capacity as he fills a big bottle using a smaller bottle. Later Aussie can use this knowledge to help him figure out Maths problems when dealing with measuring liquids.

Aksel again! He spent HOURS playing in the water area!

Paimok made tells me all about the marks she has made and what each picture means. This is such a valuable skill which helps children to recall events and retell stories.

Pheem works out a great way to carry balls around the playground. He used his fine muscle control to stack the balls, then his large muscle control to cycle!

Caio enjoys the water play and works with friends to fill bottles. This encourages skills in sharing and plan-making.

Kor-Bua works large muscles on the scooter! Hard work on a hot day, but excellent exercise for kids!

The twins just couldn't stay away from the water!

Some boys from Mr. Doug's class make up a new games using hoops.
