We have
had a lovely week learning about fairy tales and writing a storyboard for “The
Three Billy Goats Gruff”. Everyone is coming along well with their writing and are also enjoying it! The students even got a chance to perform a puppet
show and next week hopefully we can do a performance on the stage outside.
The students practiced together before showtime.
We also celebrated another birthday for Pim this time, joined by her two younger sisters who also attend Ascot in Early Years and Year One.

This week we continued our work on fairy tale stories. We
recently covered the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and the students
were asked to create a summary storyboard. First they mapped out the story
using illustrations, then wrote the story, followed by some peer review of
their efforts.

the structure of stories.

Math

This week we’ve been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, using resources
such as the bead string. Then we used these counting skills to assist us with
counting amounts of money. Then we moved onto adding various amounts of money
to find the sum total.

Inquiry
|
We have been finding out more about storytelling and have been
spending time listening to the story of the 3 Billy goats gruff being shared
in different ways - using puppets, read aloud, in a cartoon and a show. The
students discussed what they liked and what they thought could be better.
|
·
We will ask what makes a good actor? - The
students will put a short sketch together about the 3 billy goats gruff and
consider during and after what attributes they needed as actors. We will also
begin surveys to find out what our favourite method of storytelling is.
