Term 2- week 1: January 3rd- 6th 2017

Happy New year! I hope that everyone enjoyed lots of family time on the holidays and also found some time for rest as well.

This week we began our new unit of Inquiry. We gave the students picture clues about our new subject, (energy and force) to let them work in groups to try and figure out what our new topic will be. They all had some very good guesses and eventually figured it out after a few extra hints.

 Our Completed Inquiry board for previous Unit:

Happy Birthday Chandni!

   In English we are learning about Non-Fiction texts and Explanation Sentences. Students are learning facts about different types of animals and writing their own sentences to describe what they have learned.

We also looked at counting the difference between two numbers on the number line.

·         find differences using a number line;
·         find change from  coins and notes by counting up and using bonds to 10 and 20;
·         add two 2-digit numbers by counting on
Inquiry
We began by tuning into our theme ‘How the world works’ and the unit ‘People apply their understanding of forces and energy to invent and create.

We have been looking to see what the students already know when we use words such as forces and energy and tried to ask some questions which we can look to answering next week.
·         Finding out - creating questions to learn more or to develop our previous understanding further.
