WEEK 6: September 26th-30th 2016

     ---- We had an excellent book week together in Y2R!!----

Thanks for helping your child to select a book character and get a costume for our dress-up event.

We were very pleased to welcome the famous author and storyteller "Clive PiG" to our school for a whole primary performance as well as a private reading for our class. Where students got to try finishing a story in a creative way.

Our Class Book was "Aliens Love Underpants" by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. Students enjoyed being read the book and writing a book review. They also cut out an alien and designed a pair of underpants for him/her.

Y2 Weekly Update: Week 6 2016

                                                                                                                

	This Week	Next Week
English	This week we have participated in different activities based upon a space story. Y2L were looking at the ‘Way back home’ by Oliver Jeffers. Y2R were looking at ‘Aliens love underpants’. The activities included making displays, and writing book reports. This is in addition to a storytelling workshop and show with Clive Pig.	We begin some work on rhyming and Poetry.
Math	This week we completed the first assessments of the year as well as recapping what we have done so far this term.	· Know and use ordinal numbers; understand that 2-digit numbers are made from some 10s and some 1s; · Understand place value using 10p and 1p coins; find and record all possible amounts using 10p and 1p coins; ·   find 10p more and 10p less; Find 10 more and 10 less
Inquiry	We have been working on projects in class and are gearing towards the end of the unit, the students have been working to prepare a show or poster or story based on health and well being.	We will be making conclusions and taking action and wrapping up the first unit of inquiry.
